OAKLAND, Calif., May 21, 2012 — Today the California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) launched a $92,644 mail program touting Congressional candidate Julia Brownley’s strong record of fighting for clean energy jobs, protecting our coastlines and cleaning up Santa Susana labs. The program will include four flights of mail targeting 38,239 households of likely voters.
CLCV and its partners at the League of Conversation Voters Action Fund have both endorsed Julia Brownley for election to the U.S. House of Representatives representing California’s 26th district.
“Julia Brownley is a proven champion for California’s environment, and we know she’ll carry those strong environmental values with her to Washington,” said CLCV CEO Sarah Rose. “CLCV is working to elect Julia Brownley to Congress because she’ll stand up to corporate polluters that threaten our air and water and work to build a clean energy future for California and the nation.”
As a member of the California Assembly, Julia Brownley fought for legislation to eliminate single-use, carryout plastic bags, sparking a statewide grassroots movement to ban the bags. In 2009 she successfully won approval for setting standards to clean toxic and radioactive waste from the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. Brownley has earned a stellar 99% lifetime score for her votes on environmental legislation in CLCV’s California Environmental Scorecard.
“Julia Brownley has a long track record of leadership on protecting the environment and the public’s health and will be a powerful advocate for the residents of Ventura County and Los Angeles County in Congress,” said Rose.
