CLCV and LCV Statement on Rep. Chu’s Bill to Protect California’s San Gabriel Mountains
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA – California League of Conservation Voters Chief Executive Officer Sarah Rose and League of Conservation Voters President Gene Karpinski released this statement on the introduction of Representative Judy Chu’s bill to protect California’s San Gabriel Mountains, the San Gabriel National Recreation Area Act:
“The San Gabriel Mountains are a national treasure that deserve to be permanently protected. Congresswoman Chu has shown real leadership in working with local communities to preserve an important area that connects so many Californians to the outdoors while providing clean drinking water and boosting the economy. Washington should follow the lead of these local communities and act to protect this special place.”
ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
