OAKLAND, CA – The California Environmental Voters released the following statement today in response to President Biden signing the infrastructure bill into law.
Mike Young, Political and Organizing Director, California Environmental Voters:
“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act becoming law is a significant first step. The majority of the provisions that are necessary to fight the climate crisis, however, are in the President’s Build Back Better Act. Without passing Build Back Better, we don’t even come close to meeting the minimum of our nation’s commitment to climate action.
It is urgent that Congress pass the Build Back Better Act because this is our last best chance to make comprehensive investments in fighting the climate crisis. Californians are dealing with the impacts of the climate crisis right now, and we can’t afford to delay this legislation any longer.”
ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
