ACA 8:

Lowering the Voting Age

Author:

Assemblymember Evan Low

Now more than ever we need youth voters, whose futures will be affected most by the climate crisis, to be heard in our democracy in order to make the difference for climate action. Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 8, which would have required voter approval, would have lowered the voting age from 18 to 17 years old and given youth a voice in the democratic process and helped to instill a lifelong habit of voting.
